Take It Easy

Hey everyone!
What a week I have had.
I started my week with a 3 mile walk on the treadmill at the gym on Monday. The inside of my shins were killing me. Tuesday I took the day off because the pain was extreme and I made an appointment with my doctor to get my legs checked out. Wednesday morning I went to the doctor and found out I have severe shin splints. I was told to rest for 2 weeks (that's not going to happen) so I told the doctor about how I was working out/trying to lose this weight and she came up with a plan for me. She told me to swim (not an option since my gym doesn't have a pool), ride a bike or walk for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks I am allowed to run but only 1 minute of running followed by 5 minutes of walking. As the weeks go on I will be allowed to do more but in order to get rid of this pain I will need to follow this plan. So I went to the gym that evening and biked 8 miles (which took 45 minutes). Thursday was beautiful and almost 70 degrees outside so during the afternoon my kiddos and I took a 3 mile walk around our neighborhood.
My babies after our walk

Friday I rested and ran a bunch of errands to get ready for Valentine's Day! Saturday I walked another 3 miles on the treadmill changing the incline and speed throughout. I know I just told you that I'm not allowed to run but I ran (pretty much a super slow jog) for about a minute in the beginning so that my heart rate would increase and so I would start sweating. I plan on going to the gym today and I will probably walk another 3 miles.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day is usually filled with chocolates and candies at our house! But I am happy to say that only the kids got those things. I did however have two pieces of Cooper's chocolates (I had to control myself) but that was it!

To be honest...I didn't think I was going to lose any weight this week since I can't do certain things at the gym (and since "Aunt Flow" hasn't visited me in almost 2 years thanks to being pregnant and breastfeeding...she made a visit this week...holy cramps) but when I hopped on the scale this morning I was very surprised!

Last week I weighed 224.6lbs.

This week I weigh...

This means I lost 2 pounds this week! So in the past four weeks I have lost a total of 10.4lbs!! I'm extremely happy with these numbers this week! If I keep going at the rate that I am I could possibly reach my goal of 170lbs in 5 more months! I have 52.6lbs to go! I just need to make sure that I listen to what the doctor told me so that I don't hurt myself even worse. I would be devastated if I hurt myself and was unable to workout! I promised you that this week would be better...and look at that! I kept my promise!! Let's keep our fingers crossed for a great weigh in next week!

If something doesn't feel right or you are having pain while you are working out don't push it. Take time to recover and take care of your body. Its alright to take a break every now and then when you need it!

See you next week!

Let's Be Honest...

Howdy!
This week has been a busy one for me so let's just jump right into it!
Monday my hubby had duty (for the non-military people out there...this means he sits at the barracks for 24 hours) so I wasn't able to make it to the gym (I'm not paying and extra $25 a month for childcare! No way!) so Tuesday when he was well rested I got my butt in the gym to get all sweaty and burn some calories! Wednesday was my two year wedding anniversary (I honestly can't believe its been two years already...holy cow!) so the gym wasn't a priority. Just being honest. Thursday I went as well but I haven't been since. I know what you're thinking. I'm being fat and lazy. I'm not I promise. This week just hasn't been the easiest. I need to be honest about another thing before I tell you what the scale said today. My eating this week has been HORRIBLE! I had a donut date with my kiddos, Jimmy John's with my hubby and we just had Texas Roadhouse tonight with our friends who just got back to town!

My plan for this week is to get to the gym everyday and spend at least 30 minutes working out. I will need to be disciplined with my food and water intake. I want to see a big difference next Sunday and that means I have to make a change.

Last week I weighed 225.4

This week I weigh...

I have lost a total of 8.2 pounds.

I know it's not a big difference and my poor choices have really effected my weight and results this week. I promise you that next Sunday's blog and weigh-in will be the complete opposite of this one!

Sorry this weeks blog is short and to the point but I was pretty busy today. Now its time to get my babies in the bath and start our nightly routine.

Shoutout to my amazing hubby who is meal prepping for me right now!
Thank you!! You are the best!

Be honest with yourself
If you aren't making the right choices in the kitchen and not making the time to get your butt moving then you will not see the results you are wishing/hoping for.

Until next week...

Mommy Time=Gym Time

Hey there!
This week has been so cold! Not as cold as up north but too cold to take the kids out during the day while my hubby is at work...and when he comes home from work it gets dark and even colder! Soooooo....I GOT A GYM MEMBERSHIP!!! Sorry I'm just really excited about it!

Here's how my week went...
Sunday I walk/ran a mile and a half...it was awful! But I just had to keep reminding myself that I'm starting over in this weight loss journey and its going to be hard but totally worth it!! Monday-Wednesday...I was so sore...and honestly I didn't do much at all. Thursday when my hubby came home from work I was complaining about how this cold weather is really hurting my weight loss (even though I know there are plenty of things I could have done in the house for a workout) so we decided a gym membership was a good idea.

I signed up Thursday and was planning on working out after I signed up but it was getting late (I know, I know...another excuse). So finally it was Friday! I thought my husband would be getting home from work early and I was super excited about going to the gym. He ended up working late (thanks Marine Corps) but as soon as he was home I was out the door heading to the gym!

It might sound goofy but I was a little nervous going for my first workout in a new gym. All new equipment, new people, a new gym in general...I don't handle change or new things very well. When I walked in I felt awkward. I felt like everyone was starting at me and wondering what I was doing in their gym! But once I got on a treadmill I zoned everything else out. My goal (since this was my first workout in a long time) was to complete 30 minutes on the treadmill. Walking, jogging, and running...whatever my body would allow me to do. I ended my 30 minutes going a distance of 2.15 miles. This is no where near where I was while in the Marine Corps so I was a little discouraged. I had to remind myself that I can't keep thinking about where I used to be. This is where I am right now and as long as I stick to it...my times will get better.

Saturday I had a "Girl's Day" planned so I knew I had to get to the gym before. The treadmill I was on the day prior was taken so I chose another one. The first few steps I took on this treadmill where awful. It sounded like I was going to bust through the floor so I turned my music up loud and just ignored it. I ran one mile straight without stopping! It doesn't seem like much but I wasn't mentally able to do it the day before. My goal was to make progress. At the end of my run/walk my distance and time were better than Friday! I felt pretty damn proud of myself!
I'm making progress!!

After my workout I was ready to spend the day with one of my best friends to celebrate her and her new little baby girl (coming next month)! We got mani/pedis, had a wonderfully delicious sushi and hibachi dinner and ending our wonderful day with Rita's (custard and Italian ice...so delicious!). I counted my dinner as a "cheat meal" and it was totally worth it.

So last week when I weighed myself I was 228.4lbs.
This week I am....
225.4lbs! I lost an even 3 pounds which I am happy about! This puts me 7.4lbs down in two weeks!

Now its time to get ready for the Superbowl...even though the Bengals didn't make it.

It never hurts to ask for help. Don't be afraid. Everyone needs help every once in a while.

See you next week!
